Donor Emergency Fund

About the Donor Emergency Fund
Samuels Public Library has launched a Donor Emergency Fund to sustain library services amid the funding crisis it faces as a result of the Warren County Board of Supervisors’ decision not to renew its Memorandum of Agreement with Samuels Public Library.
The community has responded with overwhelming generosity — contributing over $550,000 in donations to-date.
To manage these contributions responsibly and transparently, Samuels has created a Donor Emergency Fund, designed to sustain library services and operations while a path forward is negotiated.
"This fund gives us the ability to keep serving the community in the short term, but it's not a permanent fix," said Melody Hotek, President of the Samuels Public Library Board of Trustees. "Continued support is crucial to keep Samuels public, local, and open to all. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has shown up for Samuels in this moment."

If or when a resolution is made, any remaining balance will be transferred to the Samuels Library Endowment account, supporting the long-term future of programs like summer reading and the new Studio 330, a hub for creativity, personal archiving, and lifelong learning. In 2024 alone, Samuels held 542 programs serving 19,194 attendees.
